Make the template match your writing task
A lined paper template is a starting layout rather than a fixed notebook page. Choose line spacing that fits the writer and the task: smaller spacing for compact notes, wider spacing for large handwriting, or a custom distance when you need a particular ruling. The custom setting uses millimeters. Check the preview after changing the page size, because a smaller sheet naturally holds fewer lines.
Margins create space around the writing area. A left margin is useful for annotations or a binding edge; a layout without a vertical margin gives more uninterrupted writing width. For sheets that will be hole-punched, print a sample and check the punch position. A left-side margin on every PDF page does not automatically become a mirrored inner margin when you print on both sides. Adjust the layout and printer settings for your binder.
Download a PDF to retain the chosen page dimensions, or a PNG when you need a single-page image. These downloads are not editable Word documents. To change the ruling, return to the generator and create another file. Match the printer paper size and use 100% or Actual size for predictable line spacing.
Frequently asked questions
Can I set my own distance between the lines?
Yes. Choose custom line spacing and enter the distance in millimeters. The preview updates to show the new ruling.
Can I download this template as a Word file?
This generator exports PDF and PNG files. It does not export an editable DOCX file.
Are the margins automatically mirrored for double-sided printing?
No. The selected layout repeats on each PDF page. Check the front and back of a test sheet, then adjust your margin choice and print settings for the binding edge.
