Why dots instead of lines
Dot grid paper places a small dot where the lines of graph paper would cross. The dots give you the same alignment as a grid, so you can keep text level, draw boxes, and space columns evenly, but they fade into the background once you write or draw over them. That makes dot paper popular for bullet journals, planners, lettering practice, sketch notes, wireframes, and diagrams.
The 5 mm spacing is the common choice for journals and notebooks: one row of handwriting fits between two rows of dots. A 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) spacing is similar on US paper. Choose 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) or 1 inch (25.4 mm) for large layouts, games, or young learners. The dots sit on the same positions as the matching graph paper, so a page printed from each lines up.
Soft gray dots are light enough to disappear behind ink. If your printer makes them too faint, choose black or a heavier weight under More options. Print the PDF at 100% or Actual size and measure the distance across ten dots on the first sheet when the spacing matters.
